Akris is definitely on my list of fine clothes and chic Glamour!
Creative director Albert Kriemler designed the label’s pre-fall collection with a hint of Pilot and flying in mind. Hence, the orangey-red hues (there are the sands of Australia), camel prints, and even a silk dress with an image of Earhart’s plane, called Canary, tearing across the sky. It also explains his silhouette and textile choices: utility-chic jackets and jumpsuits, thirties-style trousers in gray wool check, and a white tuxedo blouse with laser-cut chiffon wave-ruffles. The point was to translate Earhart’s singular style dichotomy: casual (masculine, even) when flying but still with a touch of aviatrix glamour.
