 People in Japan are struggling today! They were hit with a tsumani and  is the largest ever recorded earthquake in history! 

A magnitude 8.9 earthquake slammed Japan's northeastern coast Friday, unleashing a 13-foot tsunami that swept boats, cars, buildings and tons of debris miles inland. Fires triggered by the quake burned out of control up and down the coast.

Prayer:God Comfort those who mourn. Give hope to those whose hope has been taken away. Strengthen the will of people everywhere to generously give help and aid. Guide governments and agencies leading relief and support.

Japanese fashion designers have always been regarded by the international fashion world as being innovative, forward, and creative. Their designs have crossed borders and have graced catwalks from Milan to Paris, New York to London. Japanese fashion designers have generally succeeded because they give in to their public’s need for individuality. In Japan, clothing is a statement that is supposed to tell everyone who you are. This self-expression idea has also been the battle cry of Japanese fashion designers through the years, and thus they have also produced the most unique and innovative fashion styles. Furthermore, you will notice that clothes done by Japanese designers have a very basic cut to them that gives the wearer freedom to add his personality to their outfit. The mixing of various styles of the designer, trends, plus the wearer’s personal style make up Japanese fashion design.

Heavyweight in the world of international fashion. This designer, born in Hiroshima, studied graphic design as his university degree. His strength comes with his unique and original designs. Furthermore, his distinctive uses of traditional Japanese textile designs make his work one of a kind as much as it is particularly Japanese. Takada Kenzo

Another worldwide fashion powerhouse. He gained global recognition with his use of unusually big silhouettes in his designs. Although retired from designing clothes since 2000 (his name is still used as a clothing brand though), he still is active in designing furniture coverings, household items, and a wildly famous fragrance line as well.

Rei Kawakubo

May not actually ring a bell for people outside the fashion industry, but the brand Comme des Garçons is quite popular. It would be surprising to find out that this clothing brand that sounds very French was actually founded and is still owned by the very Japanese Rei Kawakubo. She rose to fame when she popularized what was called by journalists as “Hiroshima chic,” clothes with an asymmetric cut with holes and frayed, unsown edges.

Hanae Mori

Is one of the most revered names in global fashion. She was the first Asian woman to be admitted by France’s fédération française de la couture as an official design house of the haute couture genre. She has retired from the runway, although she still has a number of boutiques in the trendy Harajuku district of Tokyo. Her fragrance line is also available worldwide.

Yohji Yamamoto

When it comes to avant garde design, Yohji Yamamoto’s name cannot be ignored. Initially trained as a lawyer, he has dressed global celebrities like Elton John and has collaborated with international brands like Adidas.

Limi Feu

Yamamoto’s daughter, Limi Feu, is also a force in Japanese fashion. She caught on her father’s eccentric fashion sense with oversized silhouettes, but with a more street edge.

H. Naoto

H. Naoto is another Japanese fashion designer that has gained global acclaim with his unique amalgam of punk and gothic styles. His designs have been worn by international celebrities like Amy Lee of the band Evanescence.

Nigo

Is the creator of one of the most popular Japanese urban wear brands, A Bathing Ape, also popularly known as Bape. He is also a popular DJ and music producer.

Another DJ, hobby:tech, is also a popular fashion designer specializing in street and urban attire with his shop KIKS TYO. He has collaborated with some of the world’s most famous apparel brands like Nike, Adidas, and Levi’s.

Junko Yoshioka

A  Japanese designer known for her bridal wear. From Tokyo, she moved to the US and started as an apprentice for an Italian designer. She is popular for combining fabrics of different textures, such as silk and wool, in her creations.
