Sonia Rykiel our french fashion designer began designing in 1962, when she could not find soft sweaters to wear when pregnant. She than found a supplier through a friend of her husband and began designing her own line. She was crowned" Queen of Knits" by Americans in 1967 because of what we remember as the "Poor Boy" sweater. Her sweaters were sold under the label "Laura" The sweater made it to the cover of Elle. Sonia and her daughter Natalie, decided to bring Paris fashion to New York and in February 2005, Henri Bendel launched an in-store shoppe. There are three Sonia Rykiel boutiques in the United States. Recently she has teamed up with ( H and M )to design an underwear line and was presented in a prestigious event at the Grand Palais in Paris...
Her collection for spring is saturated with vibrant colors in light weight knits and cottons. Adore the styling of the wide belted shirts and dresses. If this is what to look forward to this Spring, I hope it stays for a long time..
